Monika Wall receives a fantastic response to her brand new show at her Nu Sounds debut last night, Feb.16/2014. Drawing from her classical background she gives the music a new jazz feel. From the Renaissance to the present, swing tunes to tango she captured her audience in a world between two worlds.

'Handmaid of the Lord' has expanded its format to include 5 soloists, The Nativity Chorus and instrumentalists. Come hear the characters come to life Monika Wall will sings the role of Mary  and the Wise Men Trio sing 'Follow' with tenors Aaron Hutton and Scott Reimer and bass Stephen Haiko.

The greatest story ever told, the story of Christmas, told from a fresh, new perspective. Mary, the mother of Jesus, tells her experience which changed the course of humanity.

Combining the classic story with the classical elegance of the angel Gabriel, the sassy swing of the wise men, the energy of latin rhythms of the celebrating shepherds and the simplicity of a folk tune in Mary’s lullaby, you will hear it, as if for the first time. From the struggle of a tango as Mary and Joseph seek shelter for the birth of Jesus to the heart wrenching “Vocalise of the mourning mothers” after the vengeful Herod murders the infants of Bethlehem, the characters come alive as living, breathing people.

The crowning glory is a full choir representing the chorus of angels and the people of the earth.

I really enjoyed  performing at Mardi Jazz with Kevin Curtis and Karl Kohut on May 14.  The brand new song I debuted that evening got a http://www.phpaide.com/demos/PowerPetition/ great response from the audience. What a great crowd on a Tuesday night in the summer!
